Insurance

How a storm claim actually works.

Your shingle warranty does not cover storms. Atlas, like every maker, excludes hail and wind beyond the rating; that is what your homeowner’s policy is for. Here is our part, and yours.

  1. Stop the water

Most policies expect you to prevent more damage. A tarp tonight protects your ceilings and your claim.

  2. We document

Dated photos of every slope, the damage up close, and the tarp invoice, ready for your adjuster.

  3. You file

You call your insurance company and open the claim. If you want us on the roof when the adjuster visits, we will be there.confirm

  4. The claim is yours

Ohio does not let contractors negotiate claims for you, and we do not. We quote the work; you and your insurer settle the claim.

After the storm

Damage you can spot from the ground.

Do not climb up there. Walk around the house and look for these, then text us photos.

  • Shingles in the yard, or bare dark patches on the roof
  • Granules (like coarse sand) washed out of the downspouts
  • Dents in gutters, vents or the AC unit after hail
  • Lifted or creased shingles along the edges and ridge
  • A new stain on a ceiling or wall, or a damp attic
  • Siding cracked or knocked loose on the windward side

FAQ

Questions we get

How fast can you get here?
Call any hour. A crew comes out and tarps the same night in most of our area, so the next rain stays outside.
How much does an emergency tarp cost?
$750 to $1,400, depending on roof size, pitch and how much is open. You get the price before we start, and if we do your repair or new roof, the tarp charge comes off.
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
If water is getting in, call us first to stop it, then open your claim. Most policies expect you to prevent further damage, and our photos help the claim.
Will you handle my insurance claim for me?
We document everything and give you the photos and invoice your adjuster needs. Ohio does not allow contractors to negotiate claims on your behalf, so the claim stays between you and your insurer.
Will you cover my deductible?
No. Your deductible is part of your policy. A contractor who offers to waive or “eat” it is asking you to misstate the claim.confirm
Does my shingle warranty cover storm damage?
No. Shingle warranties, Atlas’s included, cover manufacturing defects. Hail and wind beyond the shingle’s rating are excluded and go through homeowner’s insurance.
